He wrote more than a dictionary.
Like many best-selling authors, Noah Webster’s two most famous publications—the American Dictionary of the English Language and the American Spelling Book—crowd out his many other accomplishments on the page, including a pro-Federalist daily newspaper and a magazine he started that had a significant impact on the public debates concerning the role of the emerging federal government after the American Revolution (he was pro-Federalist).
