Storyteller

noun

"A story well told has more power to change your mind than the best argument!"

After his lifelong career in recruiting, Ron Farina returned to school at Central Connecticut State University and built a special major in nonfiction which allowed him to tell the stories he wanted to tell.

Ron says that while the rewards of publication can be “fleeting,” the joys of writing each day as a writing practice are countless. The authenticity in Ron’s work starts with his own experiences as a veteran, but continues with understanding the subject through meticulous research and spending as many as 350 to 500 hours with each person.

Ron enjoys the character-driven story. "Think about it," says Ron, “a story well told has more power to change your mind than the best argument! And those stories stay with you for a long time!” Now that’s the power of a good story and a great storyteller!

What’s in this writer’s toolbox? The characters are the crown jewels of the nonfiction story and don’t disregard their feelings. “Write every day,” Ron says, and “perhaps you’ll share some stories with your family that will make you glad you did.”

Ron Farina, a Vietnam War veteran, has published award-winning nonfiction and fiction books that focus on the military. Sacrifice: The Final Chapter was an INDIE Book Publishers Finalist for Nonfiction in 2025, the same year he was inducted into the CT Veterans Hall of Fame. In Sha Allah: If God Wills It—The Real Life Story of an Afghan Combat Interpreter is forthcoming from Casemate Publishing in 2026.
