Haunted

verb
"The things that I return to in my work are things that feel unfinished to me."

Julien Strong describes their writing as “haunted," topics that feel unresolved or unfinished they keep returning to in their works, like ghosts that haunt places where they have unfinished business.

They started writing fiction because they read mostly fiction growing up, but after plucking a poetry anthology off the shelf of a used bookstore, it sparked inspiration to write poetry, along with fiction. “For me, and I think this is true for a lot of writers, you love books so much that eventually you feel like you need to write one yourself.”

Julien Strong is the author of two novels and two poetry collections, including Tour of the Breath Gallery, which won the Walt McDonald First Book Prize.
